Why is the intrusion of the executioner important?
Plato shows an attitude to death, throughout all this, consistent with Socrates’ philosophical viewpoint.
Why is this scene important for Socrates’ argument?
The intrusion of the court scene was similar; this is real, it’s not a joke. Therefore, Socrates’ reaction is more admirable because he stays consistent with his views in the face of adversity i.e. the executioner offering two or three doses.
Why is the reference to the judges important?
It’s a break in the conversation about attitudes to death. It doesn’t tell us what attitude Socrates has to death, it shows us what attitude he has to death.
