What causes Anogenital Warts?
A
Human Papilloma Virus Types 6 and 11 (and occasionally Type 1)
Note - These are different strains from that which cause Cervical Cancer

What are the Symptoms of Anogenital Warts?
A
- Lumps with a Surface Texture of a small Cauliflower
2. Occasionally Itching / Bleeding - Especially if Perianal / Intraurethral

What is the Epidemiology of Anogenital Warts?
A
- > 90% of the UK Population have a genital HPV infection at some point in their life
- Only 20% of those infected actually get a Wart
- Drop in cases is anticipated in response to the Quadrivalent HPV Vaccine

What are the Complications of Anogenital Warts?
A
- None Common

How is an Anogenital Wart Diagnosed?
A
- Appearance
2. Biopsy if Unusual - to exclude Intraepithelial Neoplasia (Rarely needed)

What is the Treatment of Anogenital Warts?
A
- Home Treatments:
- a) Podophyllotoxin (Warticon / Condyline)
- b) Imiquimod (Aldara)
- Cryotherapy
- Diathermy / Scissor Removal - For Bulky Warts
