- 80% Asymptomatic
- Recurring Symptoms - Monthly / Annually:
- a) Burning / Itching - Blistering - Tender Ulceration
- b) Tender Inguinal Lymphadenopathy (Flu-Like Symptoms)
- c) Dysuria
- d) Neuralgic Pain in Back / Pelvis / Legs

- Autonomic Neuropathy - Urinary Retention
- Neonatal Infection
- Secondary Infection

About 5 Days to Months
Note - Some People Never Report Symptoms

- 15-20% of the UK Population have it (Very Common)
- Both Strains are Equally as Common in Genital Infection
- Roughly Equal between Sexes
- HSVt2 is an important Co-Factor in HIV transmission

What is the Treatment of the Primary Outbreak of Herpes?

- Aciclovir (400mg) - Three times Daily for 5 days

What is the Treatment of Infrequent Recurrences of Herpes?

- Lidocaine Ointment
2. Aciclovir 1.2g Once Daily until the Symptoms have gone (1-3 days)
