What is a reportable vehicle collision?
SFD apparatus strikes or is struck by another vehicle, pedestrian, domestic, animal, or other object
What is not a reportable collision?
Contact with a tree branch with no damage
Damage to windshield due to loose road debris
Vandalism
What is a reportable vessel collision?
Uncontrolled contact that resulted in damage to the vessel or object struck, or when physical injuries occur
What is the purpose of collision investigation?
To determine the cost and implement corrective actions in an effort to prevent similar collisions from reoccurring
Who reviews collisions quarterly?
The collision prevention investigation committee CPIC
When in a collision, what should be done?
Notify FAC and place unit out of service
Request SPD as needed
Provide medical assistance
Do not move vehicle, unless needed to clear traffic, unless there are serious, injuries are fatalities
Diagram of the accident
Obtain witness and contact information
Complete collision report
Complete a form 130 for repair
What are the guidelines for requesting SPD?
Any reported injuries
Fatalities
Damage over $5000
Non preventable collision (private vehicle caused incident)
Discretion of company officer

Incidents with fatalities or damage over $25,000

Who determines if a driver should be relieved following an incident?
The investigating officer, company, Officer, and the driver will discuss the driver can complete their shift
