What is the definition of a dangerous building?
A condition or situation existing in a building or structure that present a severe, special, or unusual hazard to firefighters during emergencies.
I.e. structural collapse, partial collapse, moved off foundation, risk of collapse, abandoned buildings, etc
What is the definition of caution category?
Information about people, property uses, or activities and or contents/material that pose a hazard to fire fighter or occupancy safety
I.e. Building modifications, electrical/mechanical hazards, atmospheric hazards, threats of arson, hazmat storage, heavy fire load, violent or unstable occupant, derelict buildings
What is the definition of information category?
Information that will make the SFD response effective or more efficient
I.e. Longhorsley to hydrant, long driveway, derelict buildings, Knox key access, key box location and access code, information about residence (Deaf or blind)
What is the dangerous building list? Where can it be found?
It is a confidential list of dangerous buildings that can be found on CAD tools app or first due App
What is the definition of Derelict buildings?
The derelict structure is a building that is often deserted or neglected not intended for future occupancy
What is the definition of occupancy notes?
Occupancy notes are called caution notes in first due app
What is the definition of pre-incidents survey (Pre-plan survey)?
A comprehensive report containing floorplans and locations of fire systems, hazards, exits, stairways, and obstacles
What is the process for entering a dangerous building into first due/CAD tools?
The building is designated a dangerous building
The battalion chief will be notified of a new dangerous building through email
BC Must review, approve, edit or reject the dangerous building note in first due
If approved, the FAC is notified for the need to review building and push to CAD
Members must review dangerous building notes in CAD tools within 2 to 3 hours to see if it has been entered
If it has not been entered, they need to contact the BC who will follow up with the FAC
What is the automatic expiration date for dangerous building category in first due?
Maximum 90 days
Company officers must review and reset the expiration date or delete the note
How is entering caution and information categories different than dangerous building categories?
They do not require BC approval prior to FAC review
What is the maximum expiration date of caution and information category?
365 days
