5.1 and 5.2 skills Flashcards
skill definition
consistent production of goal orientated movements which are learned and specific to the task
what is a motor skill
movements that need little thinking eg running or jumping
what is a perceptual - motor skill
movements based on interpretation of environment, more specific to the game than perceptual. eg movement is directly triggered by opponents / teammates
what is a cognitive skill
movements that have a carefully thought out approach to the task that has little movement. eg game intelligence, spacial awareness
what is a perceptual skill
movements based on interpretation of what you see and the information your senses get of your environment eg the weather, team mates and opponents
classification; discrete
has a clear start and finish
classification: serial
no clear start and finish because there is a linking of skills
classification: continuous
difficult to identify the start and finish, repetitive and rhythmical
classification: open
performed in an unstable environment with opponents, weather conditions
classification: closed
performed in a stable environment you can take your time and have practise trials
classification: gross
uses a large muscle groups creates more movement
classification: fine
uses of small muscle groups creates more specific movements
classification: individual
skill done in isolation from others, eg gymnastics
classification: coactive
skills done at the same time as others but no direct communication or interaction eg swimming in lanes
classification: interactive
direct conflict/ contest with others like a tennis rally
