MoA of Cycloserine

A

Competitively inhibit two enzymes

  1. L-alanine racemase: Forms D-alanine from L-alanine
  2. D-alanylalanine synthetase: Incorporate D-alanine into the pentapeptide necessary for peptidoglycan formation and bacterial cell wall synthesis of Mycobacterium tuberculosis

Absorption: 70-90% in GI tract

Distribution: Widely distributed in body tissues and fluids, including CSF

Metabolism: Liver (Primary)

Excretion: 70% excreted in urine
