Social Phobia

Social Phobia Occurs When
- persistent fear of social scrutiny in unfamiliar settings
- person worries about acting in embarrassing ways
- Feared situations are avoided or endured with intense anxiety and distress
- Aware of anxiety’s excessiveness but feels powerless
- disrupts work, education, family, and social life
- Fear or avoidance is unrelated to health issues
