When does the FDR operate? (in normal)
When electrical power is available, and an engine is operating
When does the CVR operate (in auto)
First engine start, until 5 minutes after shutdown
On the ground, which radio should be used for ATC communication, why?
VHF1, since the antenna is on top of the airplane and less susceptible to multipath interference from vehicles etc than the lower antenna (vhf2)
When the audio system is in the degraded mode. What stations can each seat use?
CPT and OBSV VHF1, FO VHF2
Cabin call light illuminates for how long?
40 sec
When can you erase the CVR
On the ground, parking brake set, push and hold button
How long is the recording of the CVR?
120 mins / 2h
What does the VHF TEST switch do?
Removes automatic squelch, permitting listening to unfiltered audio
What do the modes V B R on the filter switch give you
V - Voice audio
B - Both voice and morse code
R (range) - Morse code only
What does the service interphone switch do
Activates external receptacles (wheel well etc)
Can you hear GPWS, WINDSHEAR, altitude alerts etc in an audio system in degraded mode?
No, you cannot
If the pilots and the flight attendants try to do a PA at the same time, what will the pax hear?
Pilots only
