4C observational learning Flashcards
social-cognitive approaches to learning
theories that propose that learning takes place in a social setting and involves various cognitive process
observational learning
process of learning that involves watching the behaviour of a model and the associated consequence of the behaviour
model
individual who is preforming the behaviour
stages of observational learning
- attention
- retention
- reproduction
- motivation
- reinforcement
attention:
individuals actively focusing on the models behaviour.
retention:
individuals creating a mental representation of the models behaviour to help remember
reproduction:
individuals having the physical and mental capacities to replicate the behaviour, if they don’t then they are unable to reproduce the behaviour
motivation:
individuals wanting to reproduce the behaviour or have the desire to
intrinsic: motivation occurs within the individual eg desire to preform well on exam
extrinsic: motivation occurs external to the individual, eg desire to receive a praise from ur teacher for doing good in the exam
reinforcement:
individual receives a positive consequence for the behaviour which makes them likely to be even more happy to try again.
