4A classical conditioning Flashcards
learning
the process of acquiring knowledge, skills or behaviour through experience
behaviourist approaches to learning
theories that propose learning occurs by interacting with the external environment
classical conditioning
process of learning through involuntary association between a neutral stimulus and an unconditioned stimulus that results in a conditioned response
before conditioning
first stage: classical conditioning during which the neutral stimulus has no association and therefore does not produce any significant response
during conditioning
second stage: which the neutral stimulus is repeadtly paired with unconditioned stimulus therefore it produces an unconditioned response
after conditioning
third stage: neutral stimulus becomes unconditioned stimulus and produces conditioned response
