- Higher in Northern Ireland, Scotland and Wales as they are less represented in parliament than England is
- nearly 10 million eligible voters are not registered
- groups least likely vote are black people, young people and people living in poverty

- charities fundraise to help vulnerable people

Young people may feel less attached due to global connections from social media
Older people who are retired have more available time to interact with communtiy groups

Women and more likely to be involved than men
This is because more work part time or are stay at home parents

Higher levels of deprivation can lead to negative perceptions
People in temporary accommodation may feel less attached than homeowners

People form different ethnic groups may feel disconnected due to cultural differences
However they may feel more connected if their is a large community of their ethnic groups there
May have higher political participation as they want to be represented

New migrants may feel less attached due to language barriers or cultural differences
Students may also feel less attached as they only live there for a short amount of time
If they register to vote it may be at their home address rather than where they study

Poor people, ethnic minority groups and young people may feel unrepresented leading to a scenes of exclusion and marginalisation
How does a lack of political engagement and representation cause conflict over regeneration
- low income groups are les likely to vote so politicians direct their interest to wealthier groups
- regeneration is imposed on locals by development firms who have no lived experience of or attachment to the place
