What is data protection act
Protects the rights of data subjects - the owners of the data.
It sets out eight rules that must be adhered to when data is being stored and processed
What is the copyright, designs and patents act
The act makes it illegal to copy a work without the owners permission
What is the computer misuse act
This act aims to protect data and the information held on computer systems
What is the health and safety at work Act
This act relates to the people who work with computer systems. Employees have a duty of care to make sure they act in a responsible way when using computer systems.
What is the freedom of information act
The act provides public access to any recorded information held by public authorities. Recorded information includes printed documents and computer files such as emails.
What are the three main ways of breaking the computer misuse act?
- Unauthorized access to computer material
- Unauthorized access with intent to commit or facilitate the commission of further offences
- Unauthorized acts with intent to impair or with recklessness as to impairing operation of a computer
Public authorities
These include government departments, the NHS, state schools and the police force
Defamation of character
When an untrue or false statement is made by one person about another.
What are the some of main tasks that should be completed with the health and safety at work act?
Analyze workstations and assess and reduce risks
Ensure workstations meet the minimum requirements
Plan work so that there are breaks or chances of activity
