a form of monarchy with no limits on the monarch’s power.
Absolute Monarchy
the absence of any form of gov’t.
Anarchy
a form of gov’t that forces strict obedience to authority, especially that of the gov’t, at the expense of personal freedom.
Authoritarian
the idea that gov’t gains it power/authority from the people.
Consent of the Governed
a form of monarchy where the monarch serves in only a limited or symbolic role, restricted by a written set of laws.
Constitutional Monarchy
a form of gov’t in which there is democratic voting, but governmental power is limited by the existence of a constitution that protects the rights of citizens.
Constitutional Republic
a form of autocracy where an individual has absolute control over a country, often achieving it and keeping it through Vidant means.
Dictatorship
a form of gov’t in which political power is held by the people.
Democracy
a form of democracy in which the power to govern is directly in the hands of the people rather than elected representatives.
Direct Democracy
the idea that people accused of a crime still have individual rights.
Due Process of Law
a system of gov’t in which power is divided and shared between national, state, and local gov’t.
Federalism
the way a gov’t is structured and operates.
Form of Government
a form of democracy in which the people elect representatives to make policies and laws for them; sometimes called a republic or reps. democracy.
Indirect Democracy
rights guaranteed or belonging to a person.
Individual Rights
a gov’t that has been limited in power by a constitution, or written agreement.
