Limited Government
the structure of the federal government that sets up three branches with their own distinct power and responsibilities.
Separation of Powers
the ability of each branch of government to limit the power of the other branches.
Checks and Balances
rights guaranteed or belonging to a person.
Individual Rights
the idea that those who govern must also follow the same laws as everyone; no one is above the law.
Rule of Law
people accused of a crime still have individual rights. There is a standard process established that must be fairly followed before an accused person can loose their life or freedom.
