3.1 Ecosystems Flashcards
What is a species?
A species is a group of organisms whose members can interbreed with each other and produce fertile offspring.
What is biodiversity?
Biodiversity is the total variation that exists among all living things.
what is a population?
The number of a singular species in an area.

what is a food chain?
A diagram to show the flow of energy through organisms in an ecosystem
What is a food web?
A more complex diagram showing the flow of energy in an ecosystem.
What is a Ecosystem?
An ecosystem consists of all the organisms (the community) living in a particular habitat and the non-living components with which the organisms interact.
What is a niche?
The role an organism plays within a community.
When does competition occur in an ecosystem?
