What is arousal?
The readiness an individual experiences when faced with a sporting situation or task
What is augmented feedback?
Information about a skill performance that comes up from an external source
What is blocked practice?
A type of practice in which each skill performance repetitively as an independent block
What is choking?
When an athlete fails to perform effectively under pressure conditions
What is concentration?
The ability to focus on the task at hand and ignore distractions
What is distributed practice?
A form of practice in which smaller practice time intervals are interspersed with rest periods. This applies equally to both the practice schedule and the individual practice session
What is feedback?
Information concerning the performance and/or outcome of a movement skill, including information about errors and how to correct them
What is feedback frequency?
How often an external source provides feedback to the skill learner
What is goal setting?
Making plans to work towards achieving beneficial and specific objectives and results
What is intrinsic feedback?
Sensory feedback the learner receives directly from skill execution

Feedback regarding how a skill is performed; assessing performance on the basis of process and skill technique

Knowledge of the outcome of skill performance; information regarding the relative success or failure in regard to the intended goal of the movement skill
What is massed practice?
A form of practice in which there is little or no rest between the repeat performances of a skill
What is motivation?
A reason for participating in an activity; reason to practice
What is part practice?
Learning smaller parts of a skill in isolation
What is practice distribution?
The ratio between time actively spent practicing and time spent resting
What is random practice?
A form of practice that involves rehearsing a number of different skills in an unpredictable sequence
What is self confidence?
What an individual has when they believe that they can successfully perform a task and achieve their goal
What is variability?
The amount of change and uncertainty in an environment or in the performance of a skill
