What is a barrier?
Something or someone that has a negative effect on a person’s movement skills
What is a closed motor skill?
A skill performed in a predictable, self-paced environment with low inter-trial variability
What is a continuous motor skill?
A skill with no distinct beginning or ending
What is a discrete motor skill?
A skill involving movements of brief duration that are easily defined by a distinct beginning and ending
What is an enabler?
Something or someone that has a positive effect on a person’s movement skills
What is a fine motor skill?
A delicate, precise movement that engages the use of small muscle groups
What is a fundamental movement skill (FMS)?
A movement pattern that involves different body parts. They are foundational movements for more sport-specific skills
What is a gross motor skill?
A movement involving the use of large muscle groups, resulting in a coordinated action
What is an open motor skill?
A skill performed in a constantly changing, externally paced environment with high inter-trial variability
What is a serial motor skill?
A series or group of discrete skills strung together to create a more complicated, skilled action
What is a sport specific skill?
A skill that uses a range of fundamental movement skills in a sequence
