Q

3 methods for cog enhancements

A

Pharmacology - broad target brain/body, target NT, dependent on individual baseline level
Cog training - doesnt really work, improve working memory, memory palace, mostly help old people
Neurostimulation - invasive ECOG/deepbrain, noninvasive TMS/electrical scalp
- neurostim entorhinal improves spatial memory (not hippo)

Other things: TMS for depression, BCIs, surgical mapping, stimulate go/stop for parkinsons

Q

Neuromarketing

A

consumer EEG/eye track/facial expression response to ads
measure emotion/memory/att’n and improve ads for behavioral change (can be used for good too in social change ads)

Q

Ethical problems (6)

A

Effectiveness (lots dont work)
Coercion (employers mandating, severance)
Privacy (neurorights, what it sold/tracked)
Distributive justice (will everyone have/afford)
Agency (change what is perceived, arkangel)
