3 Cubital fossa Flashcards
What is the cubital fossa?
Area of transition between arm and forearm,
Depression on anterior surface of elbow joint
What shape is the cubital fossa?
Triangular
What forms the lateral border of the cubital fossa?
Medial border of brachioradialis muscle
What forms the medial border of the cubital fossa?
Lateral border of pronator teres
What forms the superior border of the cubital fossa?
Imaginary line between epicondyles of humerus
What forms the proximal floor of the cubital fossa?
Brachialis muscle
What forms the distal floor of the cubital fossa?
Supinator muscle
What forms the roof of the cubital fossa?
Skin and fascia reinforced by bicuputal aponeurosis
What runs in the roof of the cubital fossa?
Median cubital vein
What are the contents of the cubital fossa?
Lateral to medial
Radial nerve
Biceps tendon
Brachial artery
Median nerve
Reaaly need beer to be at my nicest
Is the radial nerve part of cunital fossa?
No it is near, underneath the brachioradialis muscle where it divides into superficial and deep branches
Where is the radial tuberosity?
Distal to the neck of the radius
What does the brachial artery split into in the cubital fossa?
Radial artery
Ulnar artery
Where dies the median nerve leave the cubital fossa?
Between two heads of the pronator teres muscle where it supplies the majority of the flexor muscles in the forearm
What is the clinical significance of the cubital fossa?
Site of median cubital vein - used for intravenous injections
Blood pressure is taken at the brachial artery
