A Noteworthy Incident is defined as
A fire, emergency or administrative operation that is likely to generate significant media or political interest and thus necessitate an immediate accurate and up to date information flow to department hierarchy
Examples of Noteworthy Incidents are
Multiple alarms in high profile occupancies
10-80 code 2 incidents
Multiple 10-45’s
Transportation incidents (aviation, railroad,subway)
Large scale evacuations
The following Incidents have the POTENTIAL to be noteworthy incidents. Citywide tour commander shall be notified
Fire in stairwell of housing project
Successful CFR defib
10-45 involving possible child abuse
All hands fire with numerous civilian injuries
Vacate involving a confidential haven for abused spouses
Chief officers when operating as the IC at Noteworthy Incidents are
Personally responsible for notifying or designating a knowledgeable subordinate to notify the Citywide Tour commander of all available particulars of the incident. This notification shall be made through the Emergency Operations Center as soon as the incident is determined to be Noteworthy
A battalion chief may be special called as a
Communications Coordinator to assist the IC with appropriate notifications.
Is the transmission of a 2nd alarm a prerequisite for calling a communications coordinator to a Noteworthy incident

Chief officers should use their
Cell phones which are required to be at the CP at all times to make such notifications from the scene
In those cases where a chief officer has not responded
Company officers should request the response of a Chief Officer
The Citywide Tour Commander shall be responsible for
Relaying all particulars of Noteworthy Incidents to the Fire Commissioner, the Chief of Dept and the Chief of Operations
