3-1: DC Organization & Readiness Flashcards
What tasks do DCC personnel perform?
give orders to repair lockers, inform CO of buoyancy/list/water tight integrity, provide bridge with simplified schematic, make provisions for alternate DCC, maintain casualty board/pre-planned routes/closure log
Designations used for DCRS subdivisions
F (FWD), B (AMID), A (AFT), S (STBD), P (PORT)
Basic AORs for DCRS and repair parties
R1 Main Deck, R2 FWD, R3 AFT, R4 AMID (engineering), R5 Main Prop, R6 Ordnance Casualty Control, RVII Galley, RVIII ECCT, Aviation Fuel and Repair Team, Crash&Salvage, Explosive Ordnance Disposal, Flying Squad/RRT, DC Equipment Locker
Roles of scene leader when fighting a fire
OSL located outside primary fire boundary in order to best control fire party, determines method of attack and PPE requirements, direct deenergizing of equipment, request boundary setting, determines # of hosemen necessary
How are the ships and the DC organization trained to handle personnel casualties?
DCA defines safe routes for transporting personnel, BDS location is defined, stretcher bearers administer first aid
Purpose of DC R&A/Reentry Locker (DCREL)
DCREL is a set aside locker meant just for re-entry operations, unmanned and easy access on weather deck in case the inside of the ship gets smoked out
Purpose of R&A detail
aid other vessel that need personnel/equipment backup during casualty

rescue personnel from water, assist other units, assist distressed units ashore
What DC measure require CO approval?
ballasting/deballasting, counterflooding, changing material condition, establish command dosage, establishing Maximum Permissible Exposure (MPE), unusual loading conditions, jettisoning, activation of CMWD, maneuver to avoid CBRN contamination, dispatching CBRN survey teams, flooding of mags
Which DCRS repair party may be split on large ships?
DCRS 5
What is the minimum number of hosemen necessary to operate each hose?
1 nozz, 3 hosemen for 1.75/1.5in hose, 4 hosemen for 2.5in hose; *minimum manning is based on a 100ft hose run in line of sight and can increase due to hose runs around sharp turns and ladders along the route
