when an employee leaves a particular workforce, ending the employment relationship
retirement
when an employee voluntarily leaves the workplace and the workforce

redundancy
occurs when the job a person does is no longer necessary - usually due to technological changes, restructuring or a merger or acquisition
dismissal
occurs when the behaviour of an employee is unacceptable and a business terminates their employment
unfair dismissal
occurs when an employer dismisses an employee for discriminatory reasons (eg. absence from work due to illness and injury, personal characteristics - age, gender, sexual orientation)
entitlement considerations
the rights to benefit that employees have when leaving the workplace, either on a voluntary or an involuntary basis
transition considerations
issues relating to the process of changing from one job to another or form one set of circumstances to another
