Internet protocol (IP)
Method used to send data from one computer to another
what is TCP?
Transmission control protocol (TCP)
Defines how to establish and maintain a network communication through which applications can exchange data.
what is UDP?
User data protocol (UDP)
Works similarly to TCP but without any error checking
Used for live broadcasts and online gaming
what is SMTP?
Simple mail transfer protocol (SMTP)
Used for sending and receiving email
Used in conjunction with POP3 or internet message access protocol (IMAP), allowing users to save messages in a server mailbox.

File transfer protocol (FTP)
Used for transmitting files between computers over the internet using TCP/IP connections
what is HTTP?
Hyper text transfer protocol (HTTP)
Foundation for data communication for the internet
Used to deliver data on the world wide web
what is SNMP?
Simple network management protocol (SNMP)
Used to manage and monitor network devices and their functions
what is ICMP?
Internet control message protocol (ICMP)
Used to report errors to protocol network devices to generate a message to the source IP address when there is a problem delivering IP packets.
what is POP?
Post office protocol (POP)
Downloads email from a server to a single computer, then deletes it from the server unless settings are amended to include saving.
