Q

What was its cause?

A
  • Japan is located on the eastern edge of the Eurasian plate (continental) which is subducted bc the Pacific plate (oceanic) causing a subduction zone on a destructive plate boundary
    - friction causes the Pacific plate to stick and start building pressure over time which is then released as an earthquake
