Q
What is the impact of a hight number of young dependents for a country? (name and explain 3)
A
- a very high birth rate in the future: when they reach the normal child-bearing age
- a depletion in food supplies: as women are too busy giving birth and looking after children to do much on the family farm and there are also more mouths to feed on the family income
- the health service is under pressure, especially the maternity services and those caring for the many children who fall ill in the countries where many diseases are prevalent
- lack of quality education: schools lack sufficient teachers and classrooms so class sizes are very large and schools are under-funded
- when the children grow to working age, unemployment will rise because there will be an insufficient number of jobs for them
