Remember how to find the direction for IMPULSE

A

This is CRUCIAL, will lose a mark here

  • in your previous speeds see where final speed is acting, and what DIRECTION took to be positive
  • if downwards is positive, and force acts on a ball as it hits floor thr force direction is UPWARDS, and impulse is thus UPWARDS

So impulse would be negative as defined down to be positive

Impulse direction ALWAYS = FORCE DIRECTION, don’t lack !

When finishing grvatianl potential energy, MUST take the negative sign, keep it negaitve

And when adding kinetic, add it to the negative, don’t LACK,

ONLY MGH is positive as it’s a change from less to more negative , positive chnsge

A

Use centripetal force and equate to grav force, remember when cancelling the big M is the thing that something is orbiting around

Otherwise as it does circular motion, equate v to omega r and go from there

Kinetic energy of something orbiting will be quite high, domt lack

No matter what, if vertical distance the same, then why will horizontal disgamce not affect

A

Don’t lack, it won’t because the vertical distance and initsl velocity is the same , so the time taken to fall will be the same, and horinxtal velocity is constant
