2. Motion in two dimensions Flashcards
What are the two methods for adding vectors together?
Graphing and algebraically.
Why can you not just add vectors together?
Because they have magnitude and direction.
Whose theory do we use to find the magnitude of a vector?
Pythagoras.
In projectile motion, what doesn’t change?
The x-component.
What is relative velocity?
The measurement of velocity compared to another object.
How do we measure relative velocity?
Velocities are added or subtracted from each other based on the direction of motion of each object.
What can all 2d vectors be broken into?
x-component, for horizontal motion, and y-component for vertical motion.
What type of maths do we use to find vector components?
Trigonometry.
What is a scalar measurement?
One that has magnitude only.
What do vector measurements have?
Magnitude and direction.
All measurements are either what?
Scalar or vector.
