16.6 role of the nephron in osmoregulation Flashcards
6.4.3
1
Q
the nephron carries out its role in osmoregulation in the series of stages. these are
A
- the formation of glomerular filtrate by ultra filtration
- reabsorption of glucose and water by the proximal convulated tuble
- maintenance of a graidiant of sodium in the medulla by the loop of Henle
- reabsorobtion of water by the distal convoluted tubules and collecting ducts
2
Q
formation of glomerular filtrate by ultafiltration
A
- blood enters the kidney through the renal artery which branches into arterioles which enter a renal (bowmans) capsule of a nephron
- this is the afferent arteriole and divides to give the glomerular
- glomerulor capillaries later merge to form the efferent arteriole which subdivides into capillaries , which wind their way around
