What is a refugee?
a person who has been forced to leave their country of citizenship in order to escape war, natural disaster, or persecution
What is an asylum seeker?
A person who has left their country of origin and applied for asylum in another country, but whose application has not yet been concluded

A person who enters or stays in the UK without the necessary documentation required under immigration regulations

become citizen of the UK (and hence same entitlements to other citizens)
once granted refugee status, have 28 days before eviction from asylum accommodation
granted leave to remain for 5 years
Do undocumented migrants have to pay to see a GP?
NO! everyone in the UK is entitled to free primary care
Can GP registration and appointments be witheld because a patient does not have proof of address / ID?

What groups are exempt from secondary care cahrges?
Victims of:

violence

treatment under the mental health act

bills exceeding £500 and two months outstanding are reported, with risk of detention and jeopardy of future asylum claim
