What is a job description?
A document detailing the tasks, responsibilities, job title, location and who they who report to. It explains the job and can also be used to communicate expected performance.
What is a person specification
A document detailing an ideal candidate, listing desirable and essential qualities. It includes qualifications, experience, and personality.
What is internal recruitment?
When a job vacancy is filled by someone already inside the firm.
What is external recruitment?
When a job vacency is filled by someone outside the firm. By job advertisement, head hunting, and personal recommendation

A form made by the firm allowing for data to be collected in a consistent and systematic way.

What is a CV
The candidates own document that they make and can include anything they think might be relevent
What is short listing as a method of select?
A small list of applicants which eliminates non suitable people and reduces time
What are interviews as a method of selection?
One-to-one or panel interviews. Can be swayed by the candidate’s personality or appearance.
What is an apitude test as a method of selection?
Testing how good a candidate is at a specific skill or job task
What is a psychometric test in selection?
A personality test, can be manipulated to show what the firm wants
What is an assessment centre in selection?
Where a group of candidates are invited in for a day or so to be assessed
