Q
factoring with the GCF
A
Recall the distributive property: a(b + c) = ab + ac. When a monomial is multiplied by a polynomial, the distributive property is used to write a(b + c) as ab + ac. Factoring a polynomial by using its GCF means to write a polynomial as the product of its factors, such as writing ab + ac as a(b + c), where a is the GCF.
