Explain the difference between mass and volume.
Mass is the amount of matter in an object, while volume is the amount of space an object takes up.

Define a direct relationship between variables and give an example.
A direct relationship is when the dependent variable increases as the independent variable increases or decreases as the independent variable decreases. One example of this is if the line of best fit for a graph showing the results of an experiment has a slope of 2/1, which is a positive slope.
Define an indirect relationship and give an example.
An indirect relationship is when the dependent variable decreases as the independent variable increases, which means that it has a negative slope. One example of this would be if the slope of the line of best fit in an experiment was -1/3, which is a negative slope.
Define a constant relationship between variables.
A constant relationship is when the data points are completely random, so the line of best fit is simply a straight line.
Define a non-linear relationship between variables.
A non-linear relationship is when the dependent variable does increase or decrease as the independent variable increases, but the line of best fit is a curved line.
Define a peak relationship between variables.
A peak relationship is when the line of best fit for a set of data peaks at a certain point and then goes back down.
How do you calculate the mean for a set of data?
To calculate the mean for a set of data, add all of the points together and then divide the sum by the number of points.
How do you find the median for a set of data?
First, order all of the data points from least to greatest, then find the number in the middle of the set. If there are two different numbers in the middle, find their average.
How do you find the standard deviation for a data set?
First, find the mean of the data points. Next, find the variance by finding each difference between the data points and the mean, square all of them, and then average the result. Finally, take the square root of the variance to get the standard deviation.
Which variable goes on the y-axis?
The dependent variable goes on the y-axis.
Which variable goes on the x-axis?
The independent variable goes on the x-axis.
