Pike
A pole weapon, long and thrusting used by infantry. Used from late middle ages to early 18th century
Schiltron
A circular formation of pike men with the pike
facing outside forming an impenetrable circle
of pikes.
Men-at-arms
A soldier who was well trained and would
usually fight on horseback though could fight
on foot.
Knight
A man of high social position trained to fight
as a soldier on horseback
Longbow
A longbow is a type of bow that is tall,
roughly equal to the height of the user
allowing the archer a fairly long draw. Could fire 10-15 bows a minute
Plate armour
A type of personal body armour made from
iron or steel plates, climaxing in the iconic
suit of armour entirely encasing the wearer.
Arquebus
A form of long gun that appeared in Europe
during the 15th century
Bombard
A type of cannon used to fire large (180kg)
solid stone balls at Castle walls
