Socialism
Equity for everyone and ceasing the means of production - using left wing approach
GDP/GNI (Single Economic Measures)
Gives a lack of regional picture and urban compared to rural, but widely understood and easy to compare.
Literacy/Infant Mortality/Life Expectancy
See development in a broader context but sometimes it’s hard to get information e.g. North Korea
HDI/Gender Development Index/Quality Of Life Index (Composite Measures)
Usually accurate as they iron out extremes and provide a ‘more rounded’ view.
Globalisation (Modern Indicators)
Better because more applicable but this can be meaningless and difficult to interpret
Environmental Indicators
Carbon Footprint - Shows the link between humans and the ecosystem, giving an indication to development.
