11-217V1 Ch1 Flashcards
What is aircraft attitude?
Relationship between plane’s longitudinal and lateral axes to the Earth’s horizon
What are some control instruments?
ADI and measure of power, including tachometers, engine pressure ratio, manifold pressure, fuel flow, torque etc.
What are some performance instruments?
Altimeter, airspeed, VSI, heading, AOA, and turn and slip indicator
What are some navigation instruments?
Instruments which show aircraft position relative to a nav facility or fix. For example, bearing pointers, range indicators, glide slope indicators, course indicators
What are the steps of the control-performance concept?
- Set attitude and power
- Trim
- Check performance instruments
- Adjust
What is crosschecking?
The efficient division of attention between control and performance instruments, the ability to interpret the information given by those instruments, and the correction of any discrepancies noted in aircraft flight parameters.
What are the rules for Air Force cockpit instrumentation setup?
1) Primary flight instrumentation (PFI) must always be present (full time attitude, altitude and airspeed info)
2) Instrumentation must be positioned for an efficient cross check
3) PFI must be standardized in symbology, terminology, arrangement
