1 Structure IDs- Arm (Muscles/Ligaments) Flashcards
Ulnar collateral
Function: resists excessive cubital valgus
Attachments: from medial epicondyle to medial margin of coronoid process and olecranon process
Radial collateral
Function: resists excessive cubital varus
Attachments: from lateral epicondyle to annular ligament
Annular
Function: stabilizes proximal radioulnar joint
Attachments: from the anterior margin of the radial notch to posterior margin of radial notch surrounding head of radius
Interosseous membrane
Attachments: from interosseous border of radius to interosseous border of ulna
Anconeus (C7-8)
Attachments: from lateral epicondyle of humerus to lateral surface of the olecranon process
Actions: extension of elbow
Innervation: radial nerve
Biceps brachii (C5-6)
Attachments: from coracoid process (short head) and supraglenoid tubercle (long head) of the scapula to the radial tuberosity and the deep antebrachial fascia (through the bicipital aponeurosis)
Actions: flexion of the shoulder and elbow, supination of the forearm
Innervation: musculocutaneous
Brachialis (C5-6)
Attachments: from the distal anterior shaft of the humerus and lateral and medial intermuscular septa to the coronoid process and ulnar tuberosity
Actions: flexion of the elbow
Innervation: musculotaneous and small branch from radial nerve
Coracobrachialis (C6-7)
Attachments: from the coracoid process to the proximal medial shaft of the humerus
Actions: flexion and adduction of the shoulder
Innervation: musculocutaneous nerve
Triceps brachii (C6-T1)
Attachments: from the infraglenoid tubercle of the scapula (long head) and proximal posterolateral (lateral head) and distal posteromedial (medial) shaft of the humerus to the olecranon process of the ulna
Actions: extension of the shoulder (long head) and extension of the elbow (long, lateral and medial heads)
Innervation: radial nerve
