01_Research&Assessment_MAPPING AND SPATIAL ANALYSIS Flashcards
How do you calculate the floor area ratio of a proposed development project to make sure it is code compliant?
Total area of the building is divided by the total area
Calculate the number of stories a building van be with a Floor Area Ration of 6
Data:
Site = 2.5 ac (108,900 sq.ft)
Buildable portion of site (1 ac (43,560 sq. ft)
- Multiply the total square feet by the FAR (6 * 108,900 = 653,400)
- Divide the total square feet by the buildable square feet (653,400/43,560 = 15)
15 stories
