- In 1800, the subsidiary force was increased and, in lieu of cash payment, the Nizam ceded part of his territories to the Company. - Nawab of Avadh was forced to sign a Subsidiary Treaty in 1801.

- Tipu Sultan entered into negotiations for an alliance with Revolutionary France.
- The British army attacked and defeated Tipu in a brief but fierce war in 1799, before French help could reach him while defending his capital Seringapatam.

- But SDF is an initiative by RBI to absorb surplus funds from banks without issuing collateral to them.
Why RBI used Standing Deposit Facility ?
- Demonetization has deposited nearly 14 lakhs crore in banks.
- Lending such huge amount by banks will increase the money supply in market leading to inflation.
- To cope with this problem, RBI increased the CRR and allowed banks to keep maximum amount with RBI.
- Since very difficult to issue collateral in absorbing huge amount, RBI started SDF
- Banks earns interest by depositing in form of SDF.
