what was the procedure of zimbardos research
a mock prison was set up in the basement of standford uni, students were randomly assigned roles of prisoner and guards
what happened to the prisoners at the start of the experiment
the prisoners were arrested in their homes strip searched blindfolded and issued with a uniform and a number
what happened to the guards at the start of the experiment
the guards were given uniform and told they had absolute power over the prisoners even deciding when they went to the toilet
what were the findings
stopped after six days (planned to last two weeks) prisoners rebelled after two days, after the rebellion prisoners were anxious and depressed multiple were released due to psychological distress
