How did Yugoslavia turn communist?
Yugoslavia turned communist without soviet help or influence. In 1945 communist leader Tito drove out occupying German forces and assumed control of the country.
Because Tito turned Yugoslavia communist without help how did Stalin regard him?
Tito seemed highly regarded by Stalin. However, there was an underlying tension between the communist leaders because Tito did not see why he should follow orders from Stalin like other countries in the communist bloc did.

In 1948 and this conflict became public knowledge when Stalin there Yugoslavia out of the newly formed COMINFORM.
in addition in attempt to bring Tito into line Stalin enforced economic sanctions on Yugoslavia and forbade any other communist country form trading with them.
This did not have the desired affect on the people of Yugoslavia as they rallied around Tito -their leader.
What did Tito do in retaliation to Stalin’s economic sanctions?
He looked to the West (Britain and USA) to help him in his struggle against Stalin and they were keen to help him.
In December 1948 Britain established a £30 million trade deal. The USA offered Yugoslavia Marshall Aid which they gratefully took.
What was Stalin’s reaction to Yugoslavia taking help form the West?
He was outraged by this and spent his final years making sure no other communist country followed in Tito’s footsteps.
