Can I live out my declaration without knowing my story?
No. Story is everything. I must understand my personal story on the most intimate level to reach my dream.
The story, the belief, comes first. The plan - the hoe to - comes later.
What does truly and fully living into my story look like?
I don’t have to tell people what that story is. My character is revealed through the story of who I am and how I act in the world.
Why is the 20 year story so vital?
Because it’s a struggle and an uphill fight to get to the top, and it’s worth every step of the way. Without having 20yrs, it’s easy to quit.
20yrs is long enough to deal with inevitable hiccups along the way, and it’s also long enough that I’ll experience noticeable victories and positive changes.
What’s the takeaway from Be The Best book?
Be like Jerry Rice. Give everything I have, every time. Tell myself that story and life by it.
Then look back over a life lived that way, and I’ll realise that I was the best, goddammit.
