What is the difference between Traction, Saltation, Suspension, Solution
Solution is dissolved chemicals often sderived from limestone or chalk
Suspension is particles carried (suspended) within the water
Traction is large pebbles rolled along the seabed
Saltation is a ‘hopping’ or ‘bouncing’ motion of particles too heavy to be suspended
Explain the stages in how Long Shore Drift (LSD) works?
Long shore drift is sediment which is transferred along the coastline in the UK
When a cliff is eroded and the sediment falls into the sea it doesn’t stay still it moves around the country. The direction it goes in depends on the dominant wind direction
Explain the stages in how a spit forms?
Spits are formed where the prevailing wind blows at an angle to the coastline, resulting in longshore drift.

A beach forms when waves deposit sand and gravel along the shoreline. and pebbles.
