Y2 Skill Acquisition - Informational Processing Flashcards
What is the order of input and decision making?
INPUT -> DECISION MAKING -> OUTPUT -> FEEDBACK (cycle then repeats)
Define informational processing.
Methods of data processed from the environment and used to make decisions
What does the DCR acronym stand for?
D-Detection
C-Comparison
R-Recognition
What is input?
How the environmental display is processed via sensory organs and receptors (how data is taken in)
What is decision making?
how perceptual mechanisms work to choose selectively information which is required to be translated into movement. The 5 senses help decision making
What is output?
How effector systems interact with muscular systems to provide responses to environmental display which has been processed.
How can you develop selective attention?
Practice - The more you respond, the faster your reaction becomes
Focus - improves concentration on specific cues
Warm-ups - gives time to prepare the body fully
Mental Rehearsal - Preparing the mind for focus on cues
What are the benefits of selective attention?
Prevention of Info overload - info overload can lead to over-arousal.
selective attention allows players to to focus on specific cues e.g. boxing out
What is selective attention?
Where people focus their attention intentionally on a specific source of a sound or spoken words.
What are the 3 internal senses?
Kinaesthesis
Balance
Touch
What are the two external senses?
Sight
Hearing
