Cardiac Conduction System Flashcards
1
Q
What is the order of impulse travel?
A
- SAN - Sinoatrial Node
- AVN - Atrioventricular Node
- Bundle of his
- Bundle branches
- Purkinje fibres
- Ventricular systole
2
Q
What is the AVN
A
The atrioventricular node; collects the signal fired from the SAN
3
Q
What is the cardiac cycle?
A
The mechanical event of one heartbeat
4
Q
What is the atrial systolic phase?
A
Valves are forced open - atria contract and blood is forced into the ventricles
5
Q
What is the pathway of the blood?
A
Start 1. Venae Cavae 2. Right Atrium 3. Tricuspid Valve 4. Right ventricle 5. Pulmonary semi-lunar valve 6. Pulmonary artery 7. Lungs Re - entering 8. Pulmonary vein 9. Left Atrium 10. Bicuspid valve 11. Left ventricle 12. Aortic semi-lunar valve 13. Aorta 14. Body
6
Q
What is the SAN?
A
The start of the conduction system - aka the hearts pacemaker
7
Q
What is the ventricular systole phase?
A
Blood is in the ventricles. Ventricles contract to increase pressure within the chambers forcing aortic and pulmonary semi-lunar valves to open flowing towards the Aorta or the Pulmonary Artery
