A

dec 7, 1941. 1st foreign attack on USA soil since war of 1812, japan was running low on fuel after being cut off from the USA and wanted to gain control of the pacific, though the USA was a roadblock. 18 ships sank, 2400 americans are killed and 1000 are wounded. all but one member of congress voted for war.
