Who does the driver get authority from to make a wrong direction movement?
Signaller

10 reasons why wrong direction movement?
Failed train - cant continue forward because leading cab has failed.
Engineering train - is to move towards or from a line under possession.
Wrong route- a train has to return after taking a wrong route.
Assist- a train is required to assist from the front.
Single line working is in operation.
Ground frame - a shunting movement is to be made through points that are worked from a ground frame.
Overrun - a train is to return after overrunning a platform.
Obstruction - a train has to return or proceed from or towards a blocked line.

What should the train lights display for wrong direction movements?
If less than 400 metres, do not change.
If more than 400 metres then head lights at leading cab and tail lamps at rear.
If assisting a failed train display head lights at both ends of the train.
When should you sound the horn?
At the start of the movement.
Regularly during movement.
High tone.
Series of short blasts.
On hearing AWS?
Cancel and disregard.

Must drive at caution
Max 50 mph
15 mph over points and crossings
On approach to manned level crossing?
Approach at caution
Only pass over if sure it is safe to do so.

Must be placed under local control ( crossing attendant).
