Describe a speed indicator?
Red circle.

Describe warning indicator?
Yellow upside down triangle White background Black numbers Has an associated AWS magnet 180 metres. Used when PSR is dropping by a third or greater. Advanced warning of speed reduction
Discribe a differential speed commencement boards?
Two numbers.
Bottom number is for passenger, parcel or light locos.
Top number is for all other trains.
When would you see a Temporary speed restriction?
Engineering work
Published in WON. Will detail line affected, commencement date, restriction speed, start and finish dates
Describe a TSR warning board?
Yellow square with black number above a wider yellow rectangle with 2 flashing lights.
May also have an arrow indicator.
If yellow rectangle is the same width as square it indicates it is limited clearance area.
Will have an associated AWS magnet 180 metres.
Describe a TSR speed commencement board?
Yellow square with a black number
Describe a TSR termination board?
Yellow square with a black letter T.
Describe a SPATE board?
Yellow square with a black diagonal line, left to right bottom to top.
Speed previously advised terminated early.
Describe a Repeating warning board?
If the normal position of the warning board falls on the approach to a station, siding or deadend platform line and the commencement board is more than 300 metres away will position a repeating warning board as a reminder for the driver.
Describe a AWS cancelling indicator?
On single or bi directional line, TSR will be set up in both directions, this is why AWS cancelling indicators are needed.
Yellow square with a black diagonal cross, rear of sign is a black square.
They indicate that the visual and audible indications received by driver do not apply.
TSR - position of equipment?
AWS magnet 180 meters Warning board Distance between warning board and commencement board is the Braking distance. TSR commencement board TSR termination board
Describe a Emergency indicator?
Used when TSR is more restrictive than what was published.
Will be in New notice case.
Sign is yellow rectangle with 3 black Chevrons and 3 lights.
Normally positioned at TSR warning board AWS magnet or at a signal.
The emergency indicator also has a AWS magnet 180 metres.
If TSR or emergency equipment is missing or defective?
Report to signaller immediately. Stop especially to do so if necessary.
Describe a blanket speed restriction?
Emergency speed restrictions over winds areas.
Could be notified by new notice case or by a broadcast by signaller.

40mph at TPWS grids
