tips for writing up

A
  • know your audience as different audiences have different styles and conventions.
    you have lay/cooperative audiences- interested in the implications of the research
    academic audience- interested in the writing (scientific, objective)
  • use participant quotes as evidence to justify our interpretations and themes-( make sure you are carefully keeping confidentiality) - include enough text of the quote so the reader will understand what is being said- and explain these quotes
  • vignettes to demonstrate personal experiences

scientific structure

A
  • title- a signpost to the reader
  • an abstract- brief summary of the work- written last
  • literature review- sets the scene/ justifying why you are doing your research
  • method- ethics, ppts, samples, procedure, analysis
  • findings- evidence

-discussion- locates your findings in a wider landscape
discuss limitations and further work
