what are field notes?

A

observational notes-who, what, where, when, how
general notes

theoretical notes- interpretations, inferences

methodological notes- timing, sequencing, stage reflection

critical reflection- must reflect on all aspects of field notes as this is your whole data- must capture as much as you can

Q

Diary entries

A

data collected over time
used when observations aren’t possible
‘view from within’- capture relevant info to ppt (ppt own perspective)

POSITIVE-in-situ- less reliant on memory recall as its a real time accounut.

HOWEVER- u have to rely on ppt engagement and ppts may be less inclined to record accounts that are personal
